No icons for Writer in Windows 11

After a clean install od Win 11 and installing Libre Office, the install does not offer an icon or shortcut for Writer. All the others, Calc, Base, etc., are there. I made a shortcut myself on the desktop, and also chones “pin to start”. It does not show up in the start menu, though I then have the option to “unpin from start”. Also, if I select “All Apps” from start and scroll to Libre Office 7.3, It again shows icons for all the applications except Writer. The program is installed, but I can only open it from the shortcut I made, or from the swriter.exe in the application folder.

Thoughts?

If you pin something to the Start Menu it appears in the Pinned section, not All apps.

Click Windows icon to open Start Menu. At the top are listed the pinned apps, if you don’t see the Writer shortcut immediately, there are three dots to the right of the pinned apps, hover over it to see and click the down arrow to show more pinned apps.

To add the shortcut to the menu

  • Copy the Writer shortcut
  • Right click on any of the LibreOffice programs listed in All apps and select More > Open File Location
  • Paste the shortcut to Writer in the folder (probably C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\LibreOffice 7.2)

The fact it didn’t include the shortcut might be an indication of a damaged installation but if all else is OK it might be fine.

With me everything is there!

Where did you download LibreOffice from?
Was the installation without problems?

General Installation Issues (Windows)

Downloaded from Libreoffice site. Install seemed fine. Maybe I’ll try reinstalling. I’ve done a little customizing of menus, will I lose those if I reinstall? Not hare to redo if I do.

If you mean LibreOffice, the changes are in the User Profile folder.
This is not normally touched during installation.
