When I attempt to delete the default templates that come with the Writer installation, I get a message saying that the templates cannot be deleted. Is there a reason I cannot delete MODERN BUSINESS LETTER? I would never use that template and it is just taking up storage space.
I believe that neither default templates nor default styles can be deleted.
While they can’t be deleted, they can be essentially hidden so they don’t get in the way when searching for other templates or styles.
The size of these features is so negligible that deleting them would not provide much usable space on your computer.
Thank you. Is there a HIDE function? Or is it done by creating categories and moving documents to those categories?
With Manage Document Templates you can create and filter categories. Set categories to your own filter to see only your important document.
Manage Document Templates
The templates that are shipped with LibreOffice reside in the installation folder /opt/libreoffice7.2/share/template/common/
When I rename such template and restart the office, it disappears from the availlable templates.
After going to File>Templates>Manage Templates, you can move any templates you regularly use to a My Templates category. Then, select My Templates in the Category area. Right click on one of the templates and select Set As Default. Click Close.
The template you set as default will be used any time you open a new document.
The next time you go to File>Templates>Manage Templates, the dialog should open with the My Templates category already chosen.
