Odd cursor, how to get rid of it

Suddenly an odd cursor started jumping around the page. It’s a vertical line and a triangle. How did I get it and how do I get rid of it?

Thanks you for that. It worked but:
then the page view changed to all the pages showing in one window and the top and bottom bottom margins lopped off. How do I get back to the usual view?

Maybe menu View - Show Whitespace.

Thanks it worked but at the same time the page view changed to a single widow with top and bottom margins lopped off. How do I change back to the full page view?

I couldn’t find menu view but instead rebooted and everything came up properly.
