On a machine with W-8 32bit we had LO version 3.5. When I tried to replace it with a newer version a file refering to the older version prohibits installation. I tried uninstalling (with Advanced uninstaller) which also removes registry traces but got the same result.
Can somebody help in this?
Could you describe how it “prohibits” installation? Can you tell us what message(s) you get or, better, share a screenshot?
I think you mean version 4.0.2 which is the latest stable. Can you make sure all LibreOffice windows are closed as well as QuickStarter in the system tray.
If I remember correctly there was some bug in 3.5 to not allow to install newer versions of LibreOffice. So uninstall is required first and then install new fresh version. As suggested please write more info - what is the error message you get, post a print screen to this forum (you will probably not be able to attach images on forum, because you have too low karma - anti-spam protection - so if having problem then upload print screen to some service like https://imgur.com/
Thanks for your comments, carnendi, mahfiaz and froz. I uploaded a printscreen file called: “Schermafbeelding(2)” to imgur. Losely translated it says: the function you want to use is on a unavailable network source. It suggest to look for a path to the older!! installation packet. To my best knowledge I uninstalled the previous version.

Not found. A direct link would do just fine.
Yesterday i didn’t register properly to imgur. I hope you can find it now.
Yesterday I didn’t register properly to imgur; so now I hope you can find it. In the meantime I did a lot of cleaning up but the problem is still there.
Does it show up when you search in imgur for “Schermafbeelding(2)” when you are not logged in? I suspect not. At least it doesn’t for me.
@bram It is not necessary to register to imgur.com. On the other hand, the name of the uploaded image is not retained by imgur.com (although you can rename it if you are registered). Once the image is uploaded, you copy the link under “Direct Link (email & IM)” and paste it in your question. Somebody else will help you to change the address into a visible image.

This question is a duplicate of a more clear version asked by the same OP here (which has been linked to a bug).
