Page numbering starting page number one on page 7

I have been using page numbering starting page one on page seven for my novels. lately having trouble getting page one to start on page 7. I had it OK until I started putting page breaks in, then page one appeared on Page eleven. It has worked in the past after several tries, but now can’t get page one to start on page seven. What I need is a step by step how to do it, if anyone out t here has done it successfully.
Thanks

Are you familiar with page styles? When you have parts in your document with different geometry (margins) or properties (header, footer, page numbering), you must use page styles, one per part.

Switching from one page style to another one is straightforward:

  • Insert>More Breaks>Manual Break
  • in this dialog you select which page style becomes active after the break
  • and optionally you force the starting page number.

If your document is well-structured and uses styling exhaustively and consistently, this switch can be recorded in a particular paragraph style (Text Flow tab).

PS: when asking here, amways mention OS name, exact LO version and save format. The latter is very important. I am not sure whether the recipe applies to DOCX.

Hi, I’m not really understanding styles, but a few years back someone sent me step by step how start page 1 on page 7. Involving styles. All I did was follow exactly what they sent. I’m using windows 11 and Libre Writer 25.8.4.2. I thought I would reach out again to see if I could get a step by step again.
Thanks

I assume that pages 1-6 are not numbered. Then you need a specific page style for them.

At end of page 6, insert the special page break described above, select Default Page Style and force page number to 1.

Thank you, appreciate the tip.
