When using the mouse, the page moves in all directions instead of remaining in position
If you really expect help, improve your question with OS name, exact LO version (like 26.2.4.2) and save format.
Your problem looks like an OS one. I met this kind of behaviour with nVidia GPU after inadvertently pressing a key combination with triggered hardware zoom internal to the GPU (the screen showing then only a part of the display port and the view following the cursor). It might be also a good idea to mention your GPU model.
If you mean the page scrolls around with a heavy lag with your mouse wheel, it might be a problem with hardware acceleration. I experienced that when I turned it on, thinking that would be a good thing to have - it wasn’t.
Go to Tools → Options → then select View, then uncheck the box for Use hardware acceleration. Then close and start LO again.
If it is already unchecked it might be something else, like what ajlittoz mentioned.
I have this as an option in my mouse/trackpad driver.

I have altered the mouse speed as you suggested.
a) Previous pages - the pages still move around when using the mouse
b) Newly opened pages - Only vertical movement as required - no floating of page.
Any further thoughts / guidance please ?

I turned Hardware acceleration back on in my LibreOffice settings and this time I didn’t experience the lag that I had on another computer. The computer I’m using now has a little bit better graphics card than the other one.

I did try out “Automatic scrolling” and it produced the effects just like you described (horribly on my computer)

In the LibreOffice settings Tools → Options → View - I changed the Mouse - Middle button drop down from “Paste clipboard” to “Automatic scrolling”.

When I clicked the middle mouse button, triggering “Automatic scrolling”, it moves all over the place just like you described, being very hard to use that way. (I went right back into the LibreOffice settings and switched it back to “Paste clipboard” - though I could probably just switch it to “No function” as I don’t use paste with the middle mouse button.

Automatic scrolling in a browser is nice, but in a document, not so much.
Are you using a mouse or a touch pad?
Perhaps you need to change that setting (in LibreOffice) away from Automatic scrolling. Maybe your mouse (or touch pad) is automatically triggering Automatic scrolling all the time.

You didn’t mention what OS you are using, so our menu’s may be different too. I might be seeing a setting that you don’t have. I’m using Linux Mint, and often the menu’s are different for Windows and Linux, even from within the same program. I assume the same goes for MAC as well.

I am moving away from Microsoft Office and beginning a new learning curve with LibreOffice. Have been working regularly with my Apple iMac, but as an 82 year old, it may take a little time - or more - to become familiar and competent with LibreOffice.

I switched away from M$ Office, what I learned on in College, (to OpenOffice first then to LibreOffice) twenty years ago, and after a steep learning curve (I still don’t know everything about it - I only learn what I need to know at the time I need it), I haven’t regretted the switch.
