Paper size changes unexpectedly

Using LibreOffice Calc under Windows 11.

I want to force A4 paper to load from the rear tray of my printer (I’m printing on the clean side of used paper).

I changed the paper size to 209 wide rather than 210 and when I select File > Print the little preview looks OK and, if I print immediately, it works.

However, if I go into printer settings before printing and then return to the print page, the little preview shows a page size of 102 wide by 152 high.

Am I doing something wrong?

Where? In the Page Style dialog? In Properties of Printer Settings?

In the Format > Page Style dialogue.

Possibly this unconfirmed Bug 168759 - Printing: changing printer changes page size

Re bug report, upgrade to 25.8.3.2 to solve issue

I have updated to 25.8.3.2 and the problem persists.

I go to File > Print and the following window appears.

I then select Properties, below the printer name, and display the custom page details and get this:

Finally I uncheck the Duplex Print checkbox and return to LibreOffice, when I see this:

OK. I can replicate that, it doesn’t seem too different from earlier bug.

BTW why do you need to change the paper size for the rear tray?

The default for A4 non-photo paper with my printer is to use the cassette. To force use of the rear tray I either have to use non-A4 paper or photo paper.

This specific task is to print a shopping list template and we do that on the clean side of used paper.

Rather than having to remember to open the cassette and place one sheet used side up, I wanted it to ask for paper in the rear tray (clean side facing)

Of course, if there’s another (better way) I’m always willing to learn.

I see you reported Bug 169931 - Page size changes unexpextedly

So in that template, you could click File > Printer settings and specify the tray that the printer should use in Paper Source, as well as any other settings, such as Draft, Eco or Fast. Save the template.

I think it might be easier to create a copy of your printer driver, give it a suitable name and then set the preferences so that it always uses the rear tray.

  1. Click Start menu > Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners then click Add Device.
  2. When a second entry for Canon MG6200 series Printer appears at the top, click it and it will install a copy of the printer driver
  3. Go back to Printers & Devices then click the link to Printers & Scanners again. Find and click on Canon MG6200 series Printer (Copy 1)
    1. In Additional Printer Settings, rename your printer to Canon MG6200 Rear Tray
    2. In Printing Preferences, set Paper Source to rear tray and untick Duplex Printing, set the paper size to A4. Set any other settings such as Print Quality then tick Always Print with Current settings

When you want to print on the scrap paper, select Canon MG6200 Rear Tray
