I have tried several file paths from the web but none land. Can anyone tell me the correct path to locate the pw. protected file?

A file path can be an URL up to the last slash or a folder path in the file sytem of your local system.
In both cases I can’t think of a reasonable meaning of “protected”.
To create a password protected file, you need the software you created/edited the file with, and means for protection (encryption in this case). LibreOffice comes with the ability to encrypt files, and if you want to use it, you need to enable the respective checkbox and to choose a password (of which you can be sure not to lose it) when saving.
Of course you need also the right to write files in the chosen path. How to manage these rights is a question of the OS or of the account you are using for non-local saving.
