Pasting image into Impress offsets from origin by small increment

I have an Impress slideshow that consists entirely of JPEGs that fill each slide. The slides are set to 16:9 and each JPEG is 1600x900px. However, when I paste the JPEG into the slide, it is always offset by 0.03,0.02" and I have to go into “Position and Size” and set those values to 0,0. Is this a bug? Is it a setting?

I can confirm that the margins for new slides are set to 0,0,0,0.

Thank you!

I can confirm that there are discrepancies for Pos-x-y when inserting images via the Insert>Image menu.
I assume this is a problem with LibreOffice’s internal calculations.

By default, images inserted via the menu in Impress are always centered.
Resetting the image to its x-y coordinates (0-0) shifts the image, so it is no longer centered.
Personally, I don’t have a problem with the slight x-y offset when inserting, since the image is centered.

Why is it necessary in your practice for the image to be positioned at x-y = 0-0?

Perhaps @mikekaganski has an even better idea.

Well, it’s not centered, since a 16x9 image in a 16x9 frame fills the whole frame, and the small top right offset creates a white band around the top and left of the image, but not the bottom and right (I don’t want a white band around any of the image, but if it were centered, then there would be a band all the way around).

IOW: this is off-center, not centered. Setting the coords to 0,0 does center it.

What’s more, if I copy a 16x9 bitmap out of Impress and paste it into a new slide, it does default to 0,0. The offset only occurs when pasting in a clipboard from another app (e.g. The GIMP).

Yes, the behavior is identical when copying and pasting an image or via the menu.
