when I launch PDF export of a big file (38 MB), the action never ends and I have to stop program and restart; could it be a bug?
In this file, are there many images, not compressed?

Try reducing the size of your images.
If the images can be converted from jpg to svg, the file size of each image should be smaller.
If the images need to be jpg, try using a raster editing program to reduce the size of the images. Cropped images in text editing programs are not reduced – only the portion displayed is reduced. The same may be true of images whose visible size has been reduced in a text editing program; a raster editing program can actually reduce the number of pixels used to create the image.
Images are not big.
There are many pages about 4000.
2 months ago it was possible to export in PDF, now no more.
That’s why I believe it could be a bug.
Just tried with Libreoffice 7.5.7.1 and PDF export works perfectly.
Always use the Still version of the LO for your important works.
