Why do I get a phantom writing cursor placed in my text when I paste copied text from a google document into Libre office? It is not registered as a character and I can’t highlight it. It can be removed by backspace though.

Attach the corresponding document so that we can confirm @PKG’s hypothesis.
PS: when posting screenshots, avoid dark mode. Images are shrunk and thin white lines are harder to see than thin black lines on white background. Also enable View>Formatting Marks to provide more technical details (e.g. is the large spacing above the text the result of paragraph configuration or a sequence of empty paragraphs?).
