It’s more than the trackpad. I’m on a MacBook Pro and don’t use my trackpad, but use keyboard shortcuts. About half the times I click cmd+tab to go to a different app, I come back and the sheet has randomly zoomed in anywhere from 20 to 150 times what I had it set. I checked to see if cmd+tab was set as a keyboard shortcut for zooming in, and it isn’t. it seems to be some combo of cmd+tab plus using my mouse, but I can’t figure out a pattern.
Cmd +scroll may zoom in Mac depending on system settings.
My Mac has died. Until I pay a bunch of other unexpected bills down, I am stuck using a smartphone as a computer.
I am sorry I can’t try it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Maybe Ctrl+Shift+PgUp/PgDn; at least in Linux and Windows this will Zoom In and Zoom Out.
I thought for sure this would be the answer, but I checked my Mac settings and have no keyboard shortcuts set to zoom. I just did some testing in Libre just now and when I click cmd or ctrl and then scroll my mouse, it zooms in or out. So I guess some combination of cmd + my mouse is triggering this behavior when I click cmd+tab and start to use my mouse in the other program. Looking in LibreCalc’s keyboard shortcuts, I see Zoom In and Zoom Out have keyboard shortcuts that use Shift+cmd+ some symbol that looks like a fledged arrowhead? Is there a way to remove those shortcuts? I don’t use them (on purpose).
At the system level - i.e. not in LibreOffice: go to the Apple menu, select System Settings, click Accessibility, and then choose Zoom; see if there is something there. that is relevant. This advice found by searching the web.
Already did that, months ago. I don’t want to turn zoom off for the whole system; I use it a lot in my browser.
I just want it off for LibreOffice.
Yeah, that’s what I checked when I replied yesterday. Everything there is turned off and gray. I don’t like the Mac Zoom feature and only use in-app zoom options.
I don’t see those shortcuts listed in Calc Guide 25.2 - Appendix A, Keyboard Shortcuts but they are assigned
Fledged arrowhead, ⇞ , would be Page Up.
You can delete it if it exists in your installation. Click Tools > Customise > Keyboard. Select the LibreOffice radio button. Select the Zoom in shortcut in the Function pane, double click the shortcut in the Keys pane to select the key combo in the top pane and press the Delete key, repeat for Zoom out.

Final option, create a keyboard shortcut for 100% Zoom
- Click Tools > Customise > Keyboard to open the Keybord pane.
- Select the LibreOffice radio button
- Under Functions where it says Type to search type
100 - In the Function pane select 100%
- In the Shortcuts Keys pane select a suitable empty shortcut such as Ctrl+0
- Click Assign. OK
