Preventing the LibreOffice start screen displaying recently opened docs

Is there a workaround for the start screen of LibreOffice to prevent from displaying the recently used documents when using Linux Mint? I know about the workaround in Windows 7 and I am using this but I am not aware of a solution for Linux killing this VERY ANOYING “feature”.

Did you study this thread, containing links to the related_bug report / feature_request and to another thread in this forum containing the details of a workaround povided by @Nars? The config file /share/config/soffice.cfg/sfx/ui/startcenter.ui in the installation_path named there should exist in the installation path under any OS. I don’t know about any specifica of Mint.

Yes Lupp, I know that @Nars thread and I used it to get rid of this “feature”. But I want to migrate to Linux, I am tired
to change to a new Windows version every few years and pay for that new one.
The string you wrote for linux does not exist for my linix mint 17.1. I cannot detect that!.
Perhaps I am forced to go to some linux forum to get help. But I am very disapointed by the fact that the
LibreOffice software people do not give a damne including the possibility to make an option to switch this “feature” off.

Can the new Start Screen in v4.2 be reverted to that in v4.1?

Is there (or are there plans for there) to be an option for the new 4.2 “startup page”? I think it is too big and I like the old way (any 4.x earlier than the new 4.2 version) and think it looked good. This is until now the main reason I do not want to update to the new libreoffice version and also the main reason I did not contribute money to those software people.

The ‘Thumbnail’ feature is nonsense from the beginning. It won’t even be of any use for the second file to open…But it seems to be zeitgeisty. I’m helpless. too. We will get problems from the same root again and again because the development may be trying to offer a software smelling sweet to those who aren’t used to think much before requesting a feature. Inconsistencies will come up …

On a linux system applications for all users should reside in /bin. Those for a specific user in /usr/bin; config files maybe in /usr/share…
