Printing wrong orientation

I am trying to print a Portrait Sheet of labels, which show correctly in print preview, yet everytime I send it to my Brother MFC 6720DW printer, it prints in Landscape, despite double checking all settings for the printer.
Is there a hidden setting within the label sheet I may have overlooked, that could cause the problem?

NB If I create a simple writer document, that prints correctly or If I export the label sheet as a PDF, and print it using Acrobat, that also works fine.
I’m tearing out what little hair I have left, so any advice would be welcome

I am using LO version 24.8.3.2 (x64-64), on a Windows 11 Pro version 24H2, build 26120.2510

I have a printer that might use the same driver, Brother MFC-J6955DW, but I don’t see the issue you have.

  • Have you installed Brother’s printer driver rather than relying on the Windows generic driver?
Is the driver up-to-date? I see that the full package is dated 2013 while the printer driver by itself is dated 2024.
  • Did you leave LibreOffice print page orientation set to Automatic?
  • Did you rotate the page style at any stage?
  • Is the label paper size a standard size, e.g. A4, letter?
  • Have you restarted Windows? Click Start menu > Power > Restart (power off defaults to hibernate).

Can you say what label and what paper size?
.
There is one issue, but not relevant to this situation, I found where the Brother printer driver does rotate the page after it has been set. If you want to print a brochure, you must use the Brother brochure print settings, not LibreOffice which must be set to 1 page per sheet (Not brochure).

EarnestAI,
Your comments pointed me in right direction thanks, and all seems to printing correctly now. (fingers crossed)

NB My paper size was set to User, I corrected it to A4.

BTW I discovered the printer preference settings are stored within the document, which overide the windows printer settings. This explains why it repeatedly changed to a printer that wasn’t the default printer as set in windows and why it kept reverting to User paper size.
