Problem with Drawing Objects and Exporting to EPUB

Hello,
I got a document from Google Docs, I exported it to ODT, then on LibreOffice Writer I did some fixes, and exported it to EPUB… But no images were exported.

I was able to get the images by exporting it to epub straight from Google Docs (The epub there actually doesn’t work on my reader, which is why I’m doing all this approach), so I replaced all of them, exported and it worked… Until I noticed that the images were in the wrong size…

It seems that Google Docs turns the images into something equivalent to a Drawing Object, so the square image turns into an image of proper size in the document, however, the images don’t get exported when it’s like that.

In other words: Proper image = rectangle / Google Docs export = square

Looking at the Navigator, I noticed all images are “Drawing Objects”, and before when I replaced them, they got into the Images category, and worked fine, so I think the problem is there.

My question is: Is there a way to convert (I would guess the term is rasterize) Drawing Objects into Images in Writer?

I searched for many answers, but most of the time it was related to LibreOffice Draw. I searched for options everywhere about converting or rasterizing, but I could find nothing of the sort.

I’m using Archlinux, Writer version 7.5.1.2

Maybe try exporting from GoogleDocs as docx. Google will have invested more time on that export filter and also it gives LibreOffice a chance to convert on opening the docx.

I had tried that too, same problem.

I was able to get what I wanted by essentially finding the images somewhere else, so I could get them with the correct resolutions, and replaced them in the book manually, it however only worked like this because there were few images, so it wasn’t that much work.

It however would still be a problem if there were too many, or if the images couldn’t weren’t available separately.

So I think my question is still in the open, since being able to either make Drawing Objects export to EPUB, or a way to raster Drawing Objects in Writer would be a good functionality to have.

I can see it not needing to focus on Google Docs per se, because it has its own EPUB exporter, and for some reason, it just didn’t work with my reader (I tried with Calibre and, although it worked better to some extent, it was still bugged out, with images stretched out thin, and the text out of the chapters, so I guess Google Docs may have it’s own problems).

Also to point out, exporting to PDF works fine, so I don’t know what’s the exact difference between both export options, just EPUB gives this problem.

I had also tried 2 extensions related to epub exporting, but one required external software (windows, so no deal for me, besides, I’m not keen into installing unknown software), and the other seems to not work on Libreoffice 7.
