None of them seem highly rated or being worked on. I need something semi professional that is still being developed.
Thanks those could be useful for me. Every year I create a Christmas baking plan but none of the project management tools around seem to cope with the excentricities of the Christmas/New Year period when there are some days with fixed activities, i.e. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s day, well semi-fixed in that the date does not vary(*) but the day of the week will. Then there are movable days. Advent is the obvious movable example being the four Sundays before Christmas Day. There is also Stir-up Sunday which is the Sunday immediately before Advent. I bake my Christmas cake on Stir-up Sunday but I make breads for various stuffings on the 23rd December and some years mix my Lebkuchen dough on 25th October. Nothing seems to handle this mix of fixed events and movable feasts.
Looks like one of Gantt Chart extensions (Gantt Chart Template) might provide what I want or at least act as a foundation that I can tweak to my requirements.
(*) Sometimes the Bank Holiday (aka public holiday) associated with the period will move if one of the dated events falls at a weekend.
The one with the highest rating is nonsense. An Excel troll must have uploaded that xlsx file.
The rating system on the extension site is bonkers anyway, if one just leaves a comment and forgets to rate the rating results in 0 stars. Completely nuts.
Thanks, Thomas! Gantt Excel is a great tool—really appreciate you sharing the link. It would be fantastic to have something similar available for Libre Calc as well. Has anyone found a new template that works in Calc? For now, I’ll stick with Gantt Excel—it’s a lot easier than wrestling with MS Project.
