When I have several LibreOffice Writer documents open at the same time, after random minutes of editing one of the documents, the cursor will freeze and after a minute or two, LibreOffice (7.4.6.2 (x64)/LibreOffice Community) will automatically shut down wiping out all changes since the last backup. This problem does not seem to happen with Calc. I tried uninstalling and re-installing LibreOffice, but the problem continues. Any help solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Is your version correct? Current “Fresh” version is 7.5.2.
The version I downloaded, 7.4.6.2, is the latest stable version. I am not “a technology enthusiast, early adopter or power user,” so I didn’t download the current “fresh” version, 7.5.2.
Thanks for correcting the version in your question. For problems like this, prefer to also add information on your operating system, and even about the graphics card you use. Perhaps resetting your user configuration data to default settings may already resolve the issue.
I appreciate your suggestions, but I wasn’t correcting the version in my question with my last post, I was reiterating it. As part of my question, I wrote, “LibreOffice (7.4.6.2 (x64)/LibreOffice Community)”, which states the version I use. I did neglect to state that I use Windows 10, so thanks for that advice and for the suggestion to reset my user config data to default settings. I seriously doubt that my freezing problem has anything to do with the graphics card because I have been using the same graphics card for years, and only encountered the problem in the past several months.
Nevertheless, newer version puts more processing on to the graphics card. Try this and see if problem is fixed: Click Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View and tick the box Force Skia software rendering. OK
