ok, I have an image that I put on the first page of each chapter, basically a pretty frame for the chapter numbers relevant to the novel. I have them in the header so they’ll be in the right position. Is there a way to set this so that this image will appear in that place on every first page header? THat way I don’t have to manually add it every time? I already have an end of the chapter page style that has an image, but would like to do this with the chapters, jsut only on the first page. Any ideas?
You could look through the linked question to see how it could be done, First image in a chapter vanishes when I save - #2 by EarnestAl

If your numbers are automatically generated with Tools
>Heading Numbering
, don’t put them in a frame. Frames create additional text streams and their order, relative to main stream or relative to each other, is not specified. Depending on you editing history you may end up with a strange sequence.
Putting objects into the header is motivated by need to repeat the information on every page. Your chapter number is a single occurrence of an information at start of a chapter. Therefore, it should not be sent into the header.
You want to single out the first page of a chapter. If the margins are the same as in the chapter core, you can configure your chapter page style so that the first page has different header and footer (eventually none). Layout of the chapter number is then done by configuring adequately the paragraph styles, e.g. Heading 1 to set spacing above and below.
If the margins are different on the first page, you must create a dedicated page style which you link to the chapter core page style, so that there is an automatic switch when you reach bottom of page.
