Radio (option) buttons and check boxes in fillable PDF don't save the choices input

Hello, I am making a fillable PDF in Writer, and everything works great, except I can’t get the option buttons and check boxes to save the choice that was chosen. They are blank when I open the filled and saved document, but the text in all the other fields saves just fine. Am I doing something wrong, or is this even possible in Writer? I’m using version 7.4.7.2.

Thank you!

It should work. What pdf reader are you using?
This works on my computer
TestOptionButton.odt (30.0 KB)

with Adobe Reader,
TestOptionButton.pdf (33.9 KB)

Version: 7.6.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community

Hello, thank you for your quick, helpful response!

I am on Linux without Adobe Reader, so I’ve been using Okular and qpdfview. When I opened the PDF you sent, checked a couple buttons and a box and saved it again, and upon opening in Okular, nothing was selected. So it’s likely an issue with the PDF readers not supporting option buttons and check boxes. I’ll have to find a computer with Adobe Reader and see if it works. Thank you again.

Check your package manager to see if you can install Adobe reader

I did, but it’s not in there. A bit of searching says that the last Linux verson of Reader is from 2013. I’ll try sending it to a co-worker and have her test it out for me.

Does Evince work?

Just installed Evince to try it out and it doesn’t show the radio buttons or checkbox inputs either. Okular does if you hit “Show Forms” at the top.

I tested it on my husband’s work laptop with Windows, and it works fine in Adobe Reader and Sumatra PDF reader. Radio buttons and checkboxes are checked.

So I think it’s an issue with Evince and qpdfview not supporting radio buttons and checkboxes, and Okular not fully supporting them.

I’m going to consider the issue solved as probably everyone who will be using this PDF will be using Adobe Reader. Thanks for your help!
