In our Museum we use Impress for interactive visitor information using navigational links on pages. These include interactive Maps, Oral History Files, Videos etc. We also use the excellent free HTML Quiz software from University of Victoria, JQUIZ. JQUIZ though after completing a Quiz, can only link back to a URL. If I link to my QUIZ from an Interactive button with a Hyperlink in IMPRESS , I would like to have a link back to that page from JQUIZ (Or any other HTML page). Is there any way to link back into a specific IMPRESS page from an external application ?
Workaruond tips:
- Create a “Close” link/buttom instead of the “back to Impress” link. The Impress will be appeared again (with same page where you navigated from) after you close the Browser software.
. - Create/Export the content of the Impress document into HTML format. Then you can use the normal Hyperlinks between the two HTML contents inside the Browser.
Zizi, Many thanks for replying. The challenge is to make the interaction robust to a visitor just walking away without them closing windows.
The challenge I have with the first suggestion is JQUIZ can only jump to another URL, no way to automatically close the program if the Visitor does not do so manually.
Saving the IMPRESS as HTML is a good suggestion, but I also link to videos. If I use native IMPRESS I can force the use of VLC PLayer which can be set to close on completion of the video and return to my IMPRESS Menu. If I turn IMPRESS into HTML, the videos then will use the Browser players, and none of those can be forced to close on completion of the video with recent changes in Browser security, even if I time out the windows with JSCRIPT.
Thanks,
Matthew
