Before installing libre I could save a photo jpeg direct to my desktop for use, I save a lot of photos and then drag them to their perspective folder, but now when I click save on line , for eample for of lost dog in my area, the photo downloads to libre , how do i stop this from happening
It isnât about LibreOffice; you must have changed a setting when your browser asked while you were downloading LibreOffice. Note that it was the browser requesting a change, not LibreOffice.
Go to your browserâs preferences or settings page and alter the setting there. Below is an example from Firefoxâs Tools > Settings > General
In Microsoft Edge, click the ellipsis ⌠at the top right, then choose Setting > Downloads
IMPORTANT: The desktop is a dangerous place to store files that you want to keep. In the event of having to restore Windows to an earlier version, recent files saved there may be lost. The Documents folder is not affected by Restore system.
I will try to do what you suggested and thank you. My desktop âstuffâ is backed up once a week to an external hard drive. I need these lost dogs photos handy when on line to go to the desktop to review the strays and who is looking for them on line, will try to get this fixed thank you.
ok tried it and it is not the problem, checking and nothing was changed with the download on my end
In that case, what precisely do you mean by
?
Perhaps give us a step by step of your process. If your settings in firefox/Edge are as EarnestAI have suggested, there must be something else going on that you are missing. Perhaps a screenshot of your âsave image asâ pop up might give us some clues.
I will try, not techy here, but I use windows 10, switching to 11 soon. When I see jpeg images online on facebook mostly before I downloaded Libre I would right click the i.e. dog photo save as lostinkalamazoo.jpeg and it would automatically be saved on my laptop desktop where I could compare to other photos from different areas in a desktop file , lost/found dogs, an ultimately the photo would be moved into that folder.
AFTER I added Libre office to my computer when I right click to save now an save as, it will only show me a n.jpg file to download to and it loads directly to libre office.
n.jpg is the only option when I click to save / save as to desktop. I do not know where to go or how to change that n.jpg
I do not use Edge and firefox no longer as it kept crashing. I right click the photo the windows opens says save to this pc desktop and this is the file name 594581683_1342599934569749_465952577340452974_n.jpg and under the option says save as type JPEG Image (*,jpg) I Also just notice they are opening in libre office in libre office draw , which I havenât even used.
What do you use as a browser?
Where did you download LibreOffice from?
Google is my browser
They are being saved to libre office draw, need to know how to stop that
Did you try changing the settings in your Chrome browser? It is very similar to other browsers:
- Click ⎠in the top-right corner.
- Click Settings.
- Click Downloads and change Location there, maybe also turn on Ask every time
Maybe you changed some other settings around the time you were downloading. Best to ask on the Chrome site, Google Chrome Help as this is a purely Chrome browser question
Are they showing on the desktop? It just sound like a file association issue. Look at your you file associations. right click on the file and select âopen withâ
ok then that will work right click open with and chose photos, there are several choices with libre office draw at the top, thank you, always have just click click twice to open and not having to make a choice.
thank you both L Semmens and Earnest A1 for bearing with me . This will work for me, change is so hard when one gets old, thank you
If you are using Windows - Change Default Apps in Windows will tell you how to change the default program used to open particular file types.
At the bottom of this dialogue there should be a checkbox: âalways open withâ. Select this, before hitting ok, will make your choice permanent.
