Screen Shots overlapping

I had three screen shots that I wanted to print out. I posted the one just fine, but when adding another, it overlapped the first! The cursor was at the bottom right of the screen shot, but when I hit Enter to create a new line to post the second screenshot, I noticed that the Return key was giving me new lines at the TOP!!!

I tried everything to get it to go to a new page and nothing worked. I am at a loss.

Thx

You could

  • drag the images to arrange them on the page. If you need another page you can press Ctrl+Enter to create a manual page break. Or
  • right click on each image and select Anchor > As character, this will make the images pretend to be characters so one will follow the other.
To make this the default anchoring, you can click Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting Aids and under Image, select As character

Write comes unfortunately with overlap enabled by default (why did the developers choose this option?).

To prevent this, customise Graphics and Frame frame styles to untick Allow overlap Options in Wrap tab. Do it (only once) before starting pasting images. To make the change permanent (for future documents), you’ll need to record the style configuration in a new default template.

Note that this style customisation will be ineffective on existing screenshots/images if you already dragged the images because this has added direct formatting which takes precedence over styles (and direct formatting is very difficult to remove from images).

Controlling automatically image position and other parameters can be done very precisely and predictably with frame styles. However, the concept is difficult and learning curve very steep.

Thank you for your help. Lee

Thank you. I will try that!

Thank you for your reply. I went thru every menu command at the top and could not find this anywhere. I have only been using Writer for a week. Longtime Word user, but I got a new PC and am NOT going to ‘subscribe’.

Thx

Thank you for your answer.

Each screenshot takes up a full page. Ctrl+Enter did NOT create a manual page break after the Screen Shot. They were all BEFORE even tho the cursor shows at the END of the Screenshot. Why?

The second one didn’t work either.

When I put my mouse at the screenshot where the cursor is at the end of the first screen shot (as above) and I hit enter I get new lines at the TOP of the page. WHAT?? WHY?

You created three pages and nor, presumably, the three images are on page three.
Using the mouse, drag the first image to page 1, the second image to page 2 and the third arrange on page three.
.
You can also experiment with the second option I gave

I got creative.

I knew I had three full page screen shots, so I did three to start off. I put the first screen shot on line one. Then, with the two lines I created it placed them AFTER the first screenshot since that is where they ended up.

The way I was doing it, worked in Word. But, since I am not using it anymore, I have to figure out how things are done In Libre. :innocent:

Thx again for all of your help. MUCH appreciated!!

Lee

To do it exactly the same as in Word, set the default anchoring that I gave in the second point of my first comment

Thx. Missed that the first time around. Worked PERFECTLY. Thank you SO much for your patience.
