Search-Replace: how to replace with nothing (delete selected –all– results)

Hello,
I hope someone has an idea on this. I am selecting all highlighted digits in a document/selection and I would like to delete them all (not just the highlighting, but the digits themselves).
Tried replace all with nothing but it does not work.
Thank you in advance.

Once selected, press Delete or Backspace.

But you can Find . (a point), and replace by nothing, checking Regular expressions and Current selection only.

Thank you LeroyG, actually I just tried with \t{2} checking Regular expressions and Current selection only. I do not have Delete on my keyboard, but I tried Backspace and it did not work. Tried cmd+x and it did not work. The only thing that works is the scissors/cut button in the menu bar…

Found it, I clicked on the cut button in the menu bar.
