I find it a constant irritant that the placement of the cursor (insertion point) in Writer is often NOT at the beginning of a line of text, but wherever my mouse pointer happens to be, accompanied by an arrow that appears on the screen pointing right at the cursor.
It requires that I either use the arrow keys, the “home” key, or that I become able to pinpoint the precise locaton of the first possible insertion point to the far left at the beginning of the line.
I wish I could disable this feature - placing the cursor randomly where the mouse happens to be rather than at the logical beginning point of a line of text. I suspect this is a simple setting somewhere; I cannot find it. Please help!
Have you activated Edit → Direct Cursor Mode
