Set default font and font size in word

When using Libreoffice word I cannot set a default font and font size. It just reverts to Liberation Serif, font size 12.
Its frustrating when creating document, I have tried to set a default but as every time I move to a different paragraph, etc the font and font size reverts to Liberation Serif, font sized 12. I must have wasted an hour doing a 3 paged table document as I had to keep resetting the font and font size. How do you set a default font and font size that remains for the whole of a document?

Try:

menu Tools | Options | LOWriter | Basic Fonts

Be kindly advised that LO’s word processor is called Writer and not Word.

If you don’t wish to change the default font, and just need a different font for a document: select all (Ctrl+A) and choose your preferred font name and size.

Great! Thanks. Just tried it and its fine.
