Set font size of impress equations out of equation editor

This is more like a suggestion than a question.

As I understand, it’s a choice of the developers not to allow us to resize the equations via edge click-and-drag, right? Instead, they want us to open the equation editor and change the font size there.

This makes some sense when one think about consistency, so it is easy to keep all equations with the same font size. However, in practice it is quite annoying. Specially when you are still trying to decide which font size to use for the equations.

So I would like suggest that the font size of the equations should be controlled by the font menu of the main application, and by the font size bar. No need to open equation editor for this!

Also, official Latex support would be awesome!

I agree with you… maybe you can send bug/ enhicement to LO team with libreoffice menu Help → Send Feedback… and maybe you can post bug link here, so we can support you…

In LO version 4.2 you can enlarge the formula same as all other drawing objects. It does only resizes the visual appearance of the formula but not it internal font size.

In older versions you need to use the Position&Size dialog. Uncheck size protection and set the desired size immediately inside the dialog. Closing the dialog will enable size protection automatically in versions before 4.2.

In version 4.4.5.2, there is still automatic size protection. To change size, right click on the object → Position and Size… → uncheck ‘size protection’ button → change size within this box dialog → ok.

That’s not a completely bad idea. Perhaps if all (or, somehow, a named subset of) equations could have their fonts managed just like any paragraph style, then you would be able to change font/font size at once for all equations in your document.

Check out different ways to bring your ideas to the attention of developers (and the broader community as well).
