Setting defaults for line, fill and character in drawings.

I have been trying for hours to set defaults in a template for fill, line and character. This is in the LibreOffice-draw portion of the program.
items. I can’t get it to work. Can’t find specific instructions in “Help”.
Can this be done ? How ?
Thanks in advance.

Open your document template and change the “Default Drawing Style” drawing style according to your requirements.
Save your document template again as a document template.
The next time you open Draw, the drawing objects will be displayed as desired.

In addition to @Hrbrgr 's comment:
I have created some shapes with desired fill, line and character and took them into the gallery (extra theme). When you have done that, every new file (Draw, Writer, Impress) can be supplied with these preformatted shapes. Little work for long effect.
This is no solution for your problem but an acceptable workaround, IMO.
