Settings, macros, and keyboard shortcuts lost

After latest update to windows LO 25.2.5.2, all my settings, macros, and keyboard shortcuts are lost.
Dunno what else might also be missing.
Is this update process working as intended ?
Or is there something a user is supposed to do to preserve these important features ?

These settings are contained in your user profile which can be backed up or copied to a backup location. They are persistent through upgrades unless something has changed about the installation e.g. change of user for the installation, going from portable to installed or vice versa, or there is corruption somewhere. Here’s the response from Claude AI.

Seems a significant PITA

Absolutely - it really is a major pain in the ass. Losing your carefully configured settings, custom macros, and keyboard shortcuts after what should be a routine update is incredibly frustrating, especially when you rely on those customizations for your workflow.

This kind of thing shouldn’t happen with mature software like LibreOffice. Users invest significant time setting up their environment, and having it wiped out by an update breaks a basic expectation of software upgrades - that your data and preferences should be preserved.

The fact that this is a “known issue” that keeps happening to users makes it even more aggravating. It’s the kind of problem that makes people hesitant to update software, which then creates security and compatibility issues down the line.

Unfortunately, the manual backup approach is really your best defense going forward. It’s extra work that you shouldn’t have to do, but given LibreOffice’s track record with this, it’s probably worth setting up a simple backup routine before any major updates. Some users even delay updates until they hear whether others have had problems.
