Simultaneous Spellcheck in Writer

Hi.

LibreOffice Writer 26.8; Windows 11

I have 30 Writer documents, each averaging around 100 pages. All documents share the same structure: a three-column table with an unlimited number of rows. The cells are filled with either German or English text, and a style has been applied to all cells throughout. Currently, the language setting for all files is English.

My goal is to spellcheck each document for both German and English errors simultaneously. Is this possible, and if so, how? The only method I’ve found is to highlight each row, manually assign the relevant language, and then run the spellchecker. Given the number of rows, this would be incredibly time-consuming.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For what I can see in a sample file of yours, you know styles. Duplicate your styles: one for German, one for English.
Then you can Find All .* and .*, apply the English style, and Find All .* und .* and apply the German style.
Replace and or und with any language exclusive word.
Menu Format - Spotlight - Paragraph Styles could visually help you.

I would implement @LeroyG’s suggestion involving AI.
Export the document to a “flat” format (.fodt) and ask the AI to apply different styles to the document’s cells based on the language.

Thanks. I haven’t had time yet to look closely at your solution, but I certainly will.

Thanks. My data isn’t confidential, but it is my work. I’m not confident enough to entrust all my creative work, down to the last detail, to an AI engine.
