[SOLVED] where is the quick-launcher under LO 6.3?

Hello everybody:

I just rebuilt my user profile and am a bit perplexed… What happened to the quick-launcher ?

Up until I rebuilt my corrupted user profile I still had the possibility to do CTRL-W to close the active window. If it was the only one, I was left with the quick-launcher window equipped with a minimal menu bar, and showing most recent documents tiled across it.

Now if I close the last window with CTRL-W it kills the LO process altogether.

I checked that under Tools > Options > LibreOffice > General there is no such thing anymore as a check box to launch quick-launcher at startup. Is it normal, or a sign that my install is corrupted in some way ?

To me that optional feature was great.
If as I surmise the quick-launcher was eliminated, does anybody know why ?

Quickstarter has been deprecated. Caused many problems and for me in Linux it kept eating up memory. Please see these posts:

I got used to this nifty quicklauncher icon down im my taskbar and it was very very speedy to just rightclick on this icon to then be able to launch any kind of libreoffice application. Now in version 6 I cannot find it anymore. (I am here on Linux - could be that it is still there in Windows) Please bring it back in Linux. Thanks a lot!

No quickstarter after last update?

The quickstart was deprecated on 5.4, and finally it has been removed on 6.1. Because you are in Linux, most of the quickstarter functions can be replicated with desktop files. Just point them to libreoffice --writer %U to open Writer (change to --draw to get Draw, etc) libreoffice .uno:NewDoc to open the templates tool or libreoffice .uno:Open to get the tool to open an existing file.

Tx, but a real shame. Never had a prbm under Arch. It was perfect for me.

Strange thing is it actually did not disappear for me until this morning under LO 6.3, days after I upgraded to 6.3, but immediately after I rebuilt my user profile.

It’s possible to recreate some of the quickstart features using .desktop files (at least under Plasma). See this article.

QuickStart was removed from LibreOffice for Linux. Too bad. I’m back to OpenOffice because of that. QuickStart still works fine on OpenOffice.
