Sorting sections

Firstly, I’m excited to see sections in Impress!

Is there a way to move sections around?

Background: I have a large slide deck I use for my training programs, and depending on the audience, I include certain sections and move things around. One of the reasons I’m still stuck with PP :disappointed_relieved:

No, I don’t think so.
The sections aren’t even visible in the Navigator.

and move things around.

Workaround

I think the “Custom Slide Show” feature is well-suited for this purpose.
Go to the Slide Show > Custom Slide Show menu.
There, you can define multiple and different slide sequences.

The implementation of sections in LibreOffice is not yet mature.
I think they are still working on it.

This video from Colabora onLIne (fork of LibreOffice) seems explain the sections, but in LibreOffice there is no expand/compress section options in the slide panel.

With LibreOffice 26.8.0.3 I just noticed:

  1. There are new .uno commands available with regards to section

  1. It appears that a section may be moved via these commands.

It seems that there is something more than expected, but hidden.

Those commands should at least be in the slide panel popup menu.

  • For a novice (and some advanced users) it is difficult to find how to configure it.

In any case, I can’t find UNO commands to hide/display the sections as shown in the Colabora video.
Let’s hope they implement it soon.

Firstly, thank you all for responding; it was my first question here.

The Colabora interface looks a bit more like what I need. I recreated the toolbar, which sort of works, but I’m not sure if this is usable for me. I’ll dive into Marco’s to see if there are more options there.

  • You can also customize the pop-up menu of the side pane with those commands:

Menu > Tools > Customize

This helps, but not for my use case.

The point is I have about 70 sections, and with PP I can drag them in the right order after a collapse all. Moving them around 1 section at a time makes it very labor-intensive.

“they” actually are → https://gerrit.collaboraoffice.com/q/owner:lpranam@collabora.com

the question is : when LO will be obsolete, as openoffice was years ago :face_with_thermometer:

  • tdf#71854 - UI: Missing functionality to organize presentation in “Slide Pane” (group, expand, collapse slides) as MS PowerPoint’s “Sections”
  • tdf#173536 (Sections) - [META] Sections in Impress
