Sound to enhance animation doesn't play

Hello,
I would like to enhance an animation with a sound and struggling to have it played.

I select a picture to get animation and pick an animation (entrance / fly in).
Then right click on the animation / effect options / enhancement and pick a sound from the available ones. The sound plays when I play the preview play button next to it.

Then I run the presentation, click, the image flies in as it should but there is no sound.

I am running libreoffice 25.8.3.2 on arch linux.

Can you help please?

Thomas

Used sound: applause

Works on
Version: 25.8.3.2 (X86_64)
Build ID: 8ca8d55c161d602844f5428fa4b58097424e324e
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10 X86_64 (build 19045); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE

Works on
Version: 25.2.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 520(Build:2)
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: de-DE
Ubuntu package version: 4:25.2.6~rc2-0ubuntu0.22.04.1~lo1

PS: After downloading the file (on Linux system) I had to reconnect the sound effect. Seems to be a Linux glitch? Other sounds than applause (e.g. nature1) worked better.

Hello Grantler,
Thank you for looking into this.
Your file is not working on my computer either.

I get this error when I start libreoffice from command line and run the slideshow

qt.multimedia.ffmpeg.mediadataholder: Could not open media. FFmpeg error description: Immediate exit requested

I changed the ownership of the /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/gallery/sounds/ folder to the user from root but that didn’t help.

Of note is I am using KDE on arch, there maybe some problem with QT?

from the distribution, or from TDF : Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free and private office suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft ?

side effect of win/linux ?
in the content.xml it’s actually : ./../../../Program%20Files/LibreOffice/program/../share/gallery/sounds/applause.wav

Hello Fpy,
I installed libreoffice through the package manager on Arch.

I have no problem locating the sounds. When I add the sound to the animation I can preview that with the play button that is to the right from the menu and the sound works.

It doesn’t work though during slide show.

maybe qt.multimedia.ffmpeg.mediadataholder: Could not open media. FFmpeg error description: Permission denied | Qt Forum

since there’s no obvious solution so far, I would try the TDF package → Installing LibreOffice on Linux - The Document Foundation Wiki

if you can try on gnome as well …
