allow you to insert any Unicode character. However, Unicode contains nearly 150k characters. Therefore if you don’t know in which block the one you’re looking for resides, there is little chance you find it browsing the dialog.
The Subset menu is there to narrow the search. It is likely that your symbols are in the Dingbats
or Miscellaneous Symbols
subsets.
As mentioned above, the Unicode standard defines a very large number of glyphs. They are obviously not all present simultaneously in a single font. Consequently, after selecting Dingbats
, take care to choose an appropriate font in the Font menu.
Alternatively, enter a word like “phone” in the Search box. This will filter all glyphs containing the “word” in their Unicode name.
