Strange behaviour when dragging cells to copy - confined to one spreadsheet

I’m experiencing a weird behaviour when copying cells by click-and-drag, but it only seems to happen on one (my main) spreadsheet.

Basically when I click on the lower rhs corner to copy a cell down it works fine if I only try and copy to the next cell, but if I try and copy down to several cells the copy direction reverses and there’s nothing I can do to correct it except stop and cancel the operation. Copying up, left and and right is fine. Anyone else experienced this?. Thanks.

The same thing happens in Safe mode .
Follow up - tested on the following versions…
7.5.9.2, 7.6.6.3 and 24.2.2.2 running on Windows - no problems
7.4.7.2 running on Linux (different OS) - no problems
7.6.6.3 running on Linux - problems

Could the issue be confined to the Linux releases beyond 7.5 ?.

Also had the issue with another spreadsheet, but others strangely are fine.
