Strength of password protection

Hi,

I’m wondering if using OpenOffice’s password protection would be a good enough replacement for a TrueCrypt volume.

I plan on sharing a ODS file with a coworker, which will contain sensitive information, so I want to protect it in some way; personally I’ve always stored all my documents like that in a TrueCrypt volume, but I think for him it’s gonna be too annoying to use.

So, how good is OpenOffice’s encryption ?

First off, I’m just an “average” home user, so I don’t know too much - take it easy on me. I can’t find any information about password protecting calc and/or LO text documents.
