In particular, changes to spacing above and below paragraphs made by “Edit Style” in the Formatting toolbar seem to have no effect on the spacing in the document between body text and headings.
Have tried “Update Selected Style” at the top of the Formatting toolbar after “Clear Direct Formatting.”
Using LO 25.2.5.2 on openSuse with KDE desktop.
When modifying styles has no effect, suspect the presence of direct formatting. You can check either with the Style Inspector (enabled by clicking on the icon looking like “style with magnifying glass” on the right side of the Navigator) or by activating Format → Spotlight.
Did clear direct formatting, and used the spotlight feature. All paragraphs have a style.
In that case you may have set Use page line-spacing in Page style > Page. This sets rows based on font size and small changes to above and below paragraph spacing will not be visible as they are overridden by the page line-spacing.
Page line-spacing is normally used for Body Text paragraph style but Headings are normally excluded. Go to Heading paragraph style Indents & Spacing and see if Activate page line-spacing is ticked, untick it if it is. Now check the heading to see if the issue is fixed. If the issue still exists then untick the box for each Heading paragraph style. You might instead want to make a note of the settings on that page and click the button Reset to Parent and then reinstate your settings except leave activate page line spacing unticked.
activate page line spacing was ticked only in the body text, none of the heads. Clearing that one box let the doc reflect the styles.
