Suddenly all LO documents are opening in TextEdit instead of LO

Just randomly yesterday I double-clicked on a LO file and instead of it opening with LO it opened in TextEdit. I’m using Mac Ventura 13.1.
I know what everyone will say, which is to go to the file I’m having trouble with, right-click, select ‘get info’, ‘open with’ and select LO instead of TextEdit then select ‘change all’. BUT, when I do that, it displays a pop-up that says “An error occurred while changing the application that opens “file” because not enough information is available. Do you want to open “file” with Libre Office?” The choices are: update, cancel and don’t update. If I choose update, it will change that specific file and it will open in LO, but no other LO file will unless I go to each one individually and repeat the process. Does anybody know how I can stop TextEdit from being the default application and make my files open with LO again? Thank you for any help!

Use the same method but look for a button with “Change all”.

As Apple gives me localised pages (maybe useless to you) you may try this as visual reference:

When I click change all it just gives me the error message. :S

Ran it but it didn’t find anything and didn’t fix it.

It may be an issue with file system rights.

  • Run Disktool (you should find it in Applications/utilities)
  • Select the main disk partition in the left pane.
  • Find a button which says disk first aid or repair, or something to that effect. Click it.
I have a different language setup, so not sure of the exact wording on the button.

The repair can run for 5 minutes or an hour, depending on type and size of your disk, folder structures and whether errors are present.
