Where can I find the system requirements for previous LO releases?
.
For the current release of LO, the system requirements page shows Linux kernel version 4.18 or higher and glibc2 version 2.27 or higher. My system (debian, 4.9 and 2.28) doesn’t meet the kernel requirement.
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/System_Requirements#Windows,_Mac,_Linux,_and_Android is intended for that, but it doesn’t go into details for Linux. Maybe @cloph and @ilmari can help.
Thanks, I’m guessing it is not readily available.
.
I grabbed some install tarballs
.
If the READMEs are to believed, the sysreqs in 24.2 25.2 25.8 are all the same:
- Linux Kernel version 3.10 or higher;
- glibc2 version 2.17 or higher;
- FreeType version 2.8.0 or higher;
- GTK version 3.20 or higher;
It’s not until 26.2 do the README sysreqs change:
- Linux Kernel version 4.18 or higher;
- glibc2 version 2.27 or higher;
- FreeType version 2.8.0 or higher;
- GTK version 3.24 and ATK version 2.36 or higher;
Regarding System Requirements | LibreOffice - Free and private office suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft I simplified it a bit - it used to say that kernel 4.18 or higher and glibc2 version 2.27 or higher are since 24.2. The next iteration of the website will have a git history for the content.
Debian 9 is EOL since 2022, though, but you could get kernel 4.19 from backports.
Yes, I’m way over due for fresh install of Debian.
.
I’m off topic here … what other changes would I need to make on my debian system if I backported the kernel?
.
I’d probably be happy with 25.8. Is the README is correct and complete about the system requirements?
