TAB at the beginning of paragraph disappears when I press return at the end of the paragraph

When I TAB at the beginning a paragraph, that TAB disappears when I hit return at the end of the paragraph and I have to go back up and replace it.
I typed over 1600 pages, and this just started happening. I haven’t been in playing with any settings, but I must have done something wrong.
Does anyone have any ideas?

First, using Tab to indent paragraphs is incorrect; set the indent in the paragraph style or use Body Text, Indented paragraph style if the indent is occasionally used. You might like to refer to the Writer Guide, download from LibreOffice Bookshelf

To stop leading and trailing spaces and tabs from being deleted, click Tools > AutoCorrect > AutoCorrect Options > Options and untick

• Delete spaces and tabs at beginning and end of paragraph and
• Delete spaces and tabs at beginning and end of line
