Table of contents causing LO writer to crash

I’m trying to insert a table of contents into a doc for which I’m including the link, on page 2, after the first paragraph.
I go to “insert”, and then “tables of contents, index, or bibliography” and then I immediately get a crash pop up box, which says “Due to an error, LibreOffice crashed” and more about saving the version I’m working on.

I’m using LO version 24.8.3.2 (x86_64),
CPU threads 4; OS : Windows 10 X86_64,
windows 10 home, version 22h2

As a workaround, open a new blank document. Insert a table of contents but in the dialogue, untick Preview. Once preview is not active then you can insert a table of contents in your document without it crashing.

Thanks EarnestAI and mariosv. I uninstalled and reinstalled LO and so far that seems to work.

That works only because the default for 24.8.3.2 is to have preview turned off for TOC. Much easier to just open a new document and turn off preview in TOC there.
