Template config is apparently not being respected for new sheets

Hey there!

I think I found a bug in LibreOffice Calc.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Format Cells
1.1 Ctrl+1 or Right Click -> Format Cells
    1.2 Click on Borders
1.3 Padding: Set to 3.0 pt (or any other value different form the default one)
    1.4 Click Ok
  2. Styles -> Update Selected Style (I am using the standard toolbar user interface)
  3. Save as Template
3.1 File -> Templates -> Save as Template
    3.2 Template name: default
    3.3 Template category: My Templates
3.4 Check Set as default template
3.5 If prompted to override, chose if you want to override it or to give another name
  4. Verify
4.1 Close LibreOffice and Reopen LibreOffice Calc. The border must have the defined padding size
4.2 Click on the bottom left ‘+’ to create a new sheet. It doesn’t have the correct size
4.3 Ctrl+1 or Right Click -> Format Cells then Borders
4.4 The size is what you defined in the template (correct)
    4.5 Click Ok
4.5.1 If you had only one cell selected on step 4.3, only the first row will be now correct
4.5.2 If you had selected all by clicking on the spot between 1 and A or Ctrl+A on step 4.3, all cells are going to be corrected.

OS: Debian 13
LibreOffice:
Version: 25.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 520(Build:2)
CPU threads: 22; OS: Linux 6.12; UI render: default; VCL: kf6 (cairo+wayland)
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Debian package version: 4:25.2.3-2+deb13u2
Calc: threaded

Is it a bug or some behavior I am not aware of?
Thanks

Before you log in, the site shows pinned posts trying to provide guide.

Did you edit the default cellstyle? Are you talking of padding for the Borders?

Concerning strange behaviour of LibO the exat VERSION is important. See mentioned guides.

Please don’t. Use a few more words, and give helpful information instead.
(Again: Exact version of LibO, OS with version.)

Hey Lupp,

Thanks for answering.
I edited my question and I hope it has a better structure now and all needed information.

Thanks for the clear and complete information.

V 25.8.4 under Win 10:
I didn’t do the step creating a new template, but I see a bug:

  1. Done: 1.1. through 1.4
  2. Done
  3. Omitted
  4. 4.1: Omitted
  • 4.2 New sheet created. Bug: Cells have style Default and show the changed padding when style editor opened, but the rows haven’t the adapted height.
  • 4.4 : yes
  • 4.5.1 yes
  1. Select All and assign cellstyle Default again: Expected row heights are set.

Conclusion: There is a bug. It should possibly be reported without the deviation (?) of creating a template.

Do you know how to report a bug?
