Is it possible in Write to go back to overwriting selected text with whatever I type? Right now if I have selected text and type an inverted comma or a parenthesis, instead of deleting the selection Writer surrounds it with a opening and closing inverted commas or parentheses. This behavious is very annoying to me; it’s counterintuitive; I can’t get used to it; and I have no idea how this counts as an improvement for anyone. I wonder who types some text, selects it, then has it surrounded by parentheses, for example, instead of opening parentheses, typing text, then closing parentheses.
I’m using version 24.8.6.2 (X86_64) of Writer. I went through the Options and couldn’t find a way to turn this off.
I would appreciate it if anyone could please tell me how this non-standard behaviour can be turned off. Or that this “improvement” will be fixed in an update soon. Or, as a final resort, the logic behind this…
