Typing cursor is invisible in Writer

I’ve been using Writer for years with no issue. I downloaded the new version of LibreOffice and now I cannot see the blinking typing cursor when I start a new document. Word & letter count says I typed something, but there are no visible words on the new doc. I’ve tried changing type color, still nothing shows.

If I open an existing doc, the cursor is there & functions as it should - I can delete what’s on the page and begin typing. So how do I make the cursor appear when I open Writer so I can just start typing…and see what I’m typing?

redsimp: can you please create a bug report for this? I have seen this exact same issue now on Windows with 25.8.3, in all apps and not only Writer, but unfortunately it is not my computer. The issue persisted even in Safe Mode, so this is critical and should be investigated.
