UI Disappears on Save As

Summary

In Base, parts of the UI disappear under certain circumstances when doing a Save As on a database.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a new database (embedded HSQLDB)
  2. Go to the Tables tab
  3. Put the cursor focus in the Tables pane by clicking somewhere in it. You should see a dotted outline indicating a selection where a table would be. You can do this when you have a table, but it also happens without any.
  4. Save As…

What Happens

  • All Tasks buttons disappear
  • Tables disappear

Expected Behavior

  • UI remains unchanged on Save As

Workaround

  • Go to a different tab, e.g. “Queries”, and come back to Tables
  • Buttons and Tables reappear

or

  • Ensure Tables pane is not focused by clicking one of the Tab buttons instead before doing Save As

Notes

Sometimes, this also seems to reset any formatting I’ve applied to a Table field, but I can’t currently reproduce that behavior.

First steps to take before submitting a bug - Wiki - Graphics-related issues - Skia

If you press “Save as” the connection to the old Base file should be closed and to the new file should be opened. But seems it couldn’t refresh.

When I press “Save As” in Base I close the file after this action and open it again.

@fpy Wouldn’t this not apply, since I have “UI render: Skia/Metal”? Unless I’m misreading the section of the wiki you sent.

@RobertG I’ll try that, or perhaps closing first, then duplicating & renaming the file before opening the newly duplicated file.
