I have the UK spell checker on but every word with -ize or -ization (specialization, familiarize etc) is being flagged as incorrect. This is a common error but not one that should be incorporated into a spell checker!
The -ize/-ization endings are NOT exclusive to US English.
UK English uses both, as long as you are consistent - use one or the other in one text not a combination of both, either is perfectly acceptable (see also Cambridge/Oxford English)
Is there any way to correct this? Am I missing an option that can be selected to use -ise or -ize? Could one be added if it doesnt exist? It is truly a pita having to go through every single flagged word in a long document and there is no way in hell that I am adding each and every word to the dictionary or as an exception. Should I report this as a bug?
You could add the extension for Oxford English, or use Australian English spell checker, or add the ize to your existing spell checker as you find them
Thanks for the suggestions - adding them individually is not really an option, there are too many! But I’ll check the extensions, and try Aus, didnt think of that!
As an aside you hae possibly already seen the comment on the extension download page about ise/ize spellings; for reference it says:
IN MARCH 2025, THE DEFAULT BRITISH AND SOUTH AFRICAN DICTIONARIES BECAME -ISE
For specific -ise/-ize variants, some verbs, and words MAY be missing or incorrectly included. For further installation assistance or additional information, please visit the homepage provided below or access the mailing lists.

Thanks but thats not the problem. The language is correct and working properly otherwise. Maybe useful for others tho.
