Unable to change text font color

I just updated to libre office 7.2 but this version seems to contain several bugs.

One of them: I created a new spreadsheet document, copied some items into a new spreadsheet. The text of the copied text was blue. So O selected the whole column, then I clicked on “Font Color” where I choose Black as color.

However, the text color of the text in that color did no change.

I also can select a single cell and try to change the cell content to any color: Does not work. The text color is not being changed.

Is this a known bug?

Is it possible that you have inadvertently toggled View | Value Highlighting - Ctrl+F8 ?

No. It turned out that the text I wanted top copy has been copied as links. But I was not asked if I want to copy the text as links (I did not), and I saw no indication that the text in the cells were actually links.

After I have removed the formatting from all elements in the column, I was able to change the text color.

I find this very not-intuitive, or misleading.

Copy in any program copies everything it can, it doesn’t know where you are going to paste it.

Paste has a number of options for what you want to paste (Paste special). If you don’t choose Paste Special but just choose Paste then it will paste everything it can. Intuitively, and straight-forwardly this is obvious; do not remove any attributes that the user might want. Imagine if you did want the link and couldn’t paste it, that would be a worse option.
