Unable to open excel files on a new Mac

when I try to open an excel file with Libre Office on my new Mac (Tahoe) I get this message:

Apple could not verify “(file name).xlsx is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy”

I need to be able to open MSOffice docs with LibreOffice. Please help

If the error-message is right, this is your MacOS, preventing any software to open foreign files. Not something LibreOffice can override. Maybe you as System-Administrator can allow access in some settings of the OS.
.
I would return the “new Mac” to the dealer. An unused Mac is most likely not to be compromised (even if this is hard to prove for Schrödingers cat).

You are not alone, but I found no tutorial for you.
Try to check gatekeeper, full disk access and security and privacy settings…

There is insufficient information provided.
How are you trying to open the xlsx file?
Does the same file load into Apple’s Numbers program ?
Does the xlsx file contain links to resources on the internet?
Does the xlsx file contain macros?
What is the default application associated with the xlsx file type in Finder ? Look at the properties of the file via “Cmd I”, or via the context menu after selecting the file in Finder to see what the assigned default application is.
