Have been trying both in Writer and in Draw to print an 8.5 x 11 where the text of the 1st page should be on the right side of the wide direction, then behind Pg 2 on the left and Pg 3 on the right side. The HELP instructions that I have used from the Community do not accomplish that. The print Preview always shows my text on the left side of a Landscape orientation. If I select Brochure, it shrinks the text. Even if I select 2 pages per sheet, the print preview changes back to Portrait. Would appreciate help. Thanks in advance.
Thank you, EarnestAl. I have been experimenting for the last hour. However, that solution does not seem to work for me. Yes, when I select Brochure it puts the first page on the right side. But then it still shrinks, no matter how big I make the font. My original font is Calibri 14. I made it 20. It makes no difference. Moreover, when I select Brochure, it does not give me a sub-dialogue for Brochure. What am I doing wrong?
I am still trying to understand the problem. Are you trying to print to paper 17" x 11"? That is double the size paper compared to the document and without reduction in size?
What printer do you have? and on what operating system?
I think you need to make sure you have Left-To-Right script selected in the print dialogue.
Yes. That is how you get two Letter pages on a single side. Work out what final font size you want and then increase the font size in your document 1.4 times (square root of two). If you want a printed font size of 10 points then make your document font size 14 points.
Thanks again. No I am printing on 8.5 x 11. When I print ‘normal’, without selecting ‘Brochure’, it covers the page without shrinking, although the position on the paper is wrong. But in Brochure, no matter the size of the font, it just reduces the space of the text; plus, it seems like it even centers it vertically. I am using Windows 11 on an HP OJ 5255. I also notice that it does not cover the entire page, but leaves out on top and at the bottom, on all the pages. That is not the case on the screen. My text on the screen has the page format set to Landscape, and the text goes from 1 to 5 in. at the top. This is puzzling to me.
Printing as Brochure from A4 just produces two A5 pages side-by-side. The proportions look the same.
If I use Letter size as base document and look at the preview, I see the proportions look the same but there is more white space above and below each page. I am not sure why that is. I can’t test the printing as I don’t have access to Letter paper.
[Edit] It seems to be the geometry of the paper sizes. The A series paper is designed to halve to the next size down so it maintains its ratio, a/b=sqrt 2. The Letter size has a different ratio of height to width so you end up with more white space top and bottom when printed as booklet. See Paper size - Wikipedia
I do appreciate your help. But it must be a lost cause… No matter how I try, even change font or print to PDF. No success. Here is a screen shot of my printing dialogue.

Please upload a 4 page sample file. Probably your LO-version has got some problems.
BTW: What LO version are you working on?
(I have had similar results compared to yours in trying to print 2 pages on 1, but brochure was okay.)
LO 7.3.3.2 on LinuxMint
Looking at your screenshot:
- It seems (I can’t see for sure) that you have the document page in Landscape. If you want two pages in portrait side-by-side then the document page needs to be in Portrait.
- Don’t set anything to A4 unless you use A4 paper. For USA and Canada set to Letter size.
- Don’t worry about the Left-to-right script and vice versa, if you don’t have installed languages that read right-to-left you won’t see it.
Have a look at the sample I used for my screenshot.

Thank you, Grantler and EarnestAl for your time. It’s solved. Per EarnestAl’s suggestion, I changed my text to Portrait in Page style. Then it worked well 100%. I had created the text of my pamphlet in Landscape. That was the problem. THANK YOU again! ( I use LO 7.2.4.1 )
