Unexpected document close with or without errors

I have experienced documents closing when typing, for no apparent reason. It’s not like I was typing commands using ALT or Shift key, etc. It would just close on its own for no apparent reason, without errors…

Today’s unexpected document closure had changed the document. When I reopened the document, the font name and size from Segoe 7 to Calibri 9, which if I recall is the default. When I say it changed the document, I don’t mean from the last input, the whole document reverted back to its default font and size.

Could someone let me know if this is a known bug, please, or just me?

As requested, thanks! My OS is Windows 10, I am using LO 7.2.2.2 (x64)
The doc is saved using default LO, odt
The document was created in LO, not imported.
**Note I cannot display the doc as it is confidential, is there a place I can look, I am sorry I wish I could comply.

I assume that you save the document in ODT format.

In such a situation, technical information is utterly needed. So edit your question to mention OS name and LO version because interaction between OS and application may be at stake. Tell also the save format of your document (native .odt or alien .doc(x) by personam choice). Do you format the document itself using keyboard shortcuts/toolbar buttons or do you use a more professional approach with styles?

I have had this issue before, in fact every LO doc I gave created closes.

What are the characteristics of your failing documents?

  • does this occur on any document?
  • what is the size of the affected documents? (only if bigger than xxx, small, no matter the size, …)
  • have you had recently a Windows update? It is usually recommend to completely switch off the computer (which Windows doesn’t do usually; it only hibernate the PC) and to cold-start it.
  • does this also occur if you restart in safe mode?
  • is it random or systematic?
  • do you remember what you were doing immediately prior the spurious close?

My documents range from 200 to 500 pages.

Windows automatically get updated every Tuesday.

The computer hib, do I will cold start it.

Never tried it in safe mode. This is not a constant issue it is sporadic.

This latest shutdown I was typing a sentence when it closed.
