Hi all,
running 25.8.1.1 and each time I open a saved write file I get a message with the sliding bar saying “please wait while your installation is updated”. Any idea why?
Please see Updates that are not requested
If you get the message every time, then the update installation is not completing. Check your security settings
I looked in security settings but can find no reference to Libre. The “maintenance” entry is set to start, (Ichecked with autoruns) ??
You might have to allow soffice.bin to the allowed list.
See General Installation Issues (Windows) - The Document Foundation Wiki
I had a look at that link but it’s way too complicated for an old dinosaur like me
I did look in msconfig and services.msc and the "maintenance service’ was disabled so I changed it to automatic but it won’t allow me to start it…“windows could not start the libreoffice maintenance service on local computer error 1 incorrect function” Would uninstalling and reinstalling Libre fix it?
I think the way forward would be to
- Turn off Automatic updates in LibreOffice and only manually update LibreOffice. See the linked question I referred to in my first comment.
- When you want to update LibreOffice, download the file from www.libreoffice.org
- Turn off your anti virus
- Run the upgrade installation
- Turn the anti virus back on
- Add soffice.bin (or might be listed as LibreOffice) to the Allowed list in your anti virus
I normally have my work installation of LibreOffice a few versions behind the current version unless there is a feature or a bug fix that I really want
Thank you very much, will do as you suggest.
Update…I just stopped auto updates and now Libre office files open in a flash. There was a lag of maybe a second or two before so it’s a win. Thanks again
